I’m not a hunter, and probably will never go actual hunting, unless maybe my family and I were starving and had no choice, so it might sound weird that I’ve been playing a hunting game. I love these hunting games because the atmosphere in them is usually great, and they’re like going on a nature walk, which i do alot in real life. It’s almost just as relaxing and mediative in the game as it is in person. Call Of the Wild is a great hunting game, it does it well, but Way of The Hunter does it even better. The landscapes are so much more realistic, and actually seem like they were created by nature, unlike Call Of The Wild, where they seem created by some guy sitting behind his office desk.
There seems to be more animals in CALL OF THE WILD, but i’m not too sure if there actually. I say seem because you don’t see animals often in WAY OF THE HUNTER, because as in real life, they get spooked and run off. So you end up only hearing them in the distance, or maybe see a deer here or there running away from you. So the game is also realistic in that sense.
In order to progress to unlock more maps and free hunt, etc… you are forced to hunt animals, and damn is it a pain! They’ll hear you coming from over 100 meters away and run off. It’s a bitch especially if you’re in a forest because its hard to see them anyways, and when you finally do, they run and hide again.
The game is making me want to hunt. It actually became fun to see if i can sneak up on them and get one, takes skill and progress. I’m slowly getting better and better at the game, which leads me to the video here where I got fucked.
I was slowly sneaking up on too Moose or Meese? is Meese plural for moose? haha, anyways there were two Moose/MEESE.. a male and a female, I wanted to get the male, just because it seems you’d get more money for a lean male, and also the animals population in the game is realistic as well, so fewer females would mean less baby Moose being born, so anyways, I took my time and finally got close enough to them without chasing them off to land a good instant kill shot. I took the shot and dropped the male Moose. The female moose immediately came running at me. I was surprised, but I was able to shoot it several times, which should’ve dropped it, but it some how still mowed me down and killed me.
I was mad because that was bullshit, and all that time wasted. Soon as I respawned, I went back looking for the corpse of the male. Took probably a good 30+ minutes to find it, which was probably a waste of time because I could’ve hunted another one by then, but i was able to find it by seeing the blood trail left by the female, which i also found dead as well.
I’m loving this game though!
But really, the world is beautiful, especially the Transylvania map, which is supposed to be based on Eastern Europe.
